Save the dates: 7/10-7/12 What natural beekeeping means to you
I'll present about natural beekeeping at the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association Summer Conference in Flat Rock, North Carolina.
Join me at the North Carolina State Beekeepers Association Summer Conference. Last year I spoke about permaculture design in apiaries and pollinator gardens at the summer conference in Pinehurst, North Carolina. This year my presentation is all about natural beekeeping. I’ve spoken with various beekeeping clubs on this topic. I’ve updated my presentation to include a number of different efforts and address new chemical-free hive management practices that didn’t exist just a few years ago. About a third of my presentation is brand new, so if you’ve attended one of my earlier talks, this one will have some gold nuggets for you.
During this session I talk about:
Regulatory issues with “natural” labeling and marketing practices
Chemical-free varroa management efforts ranging from brood breaks to high-tech hives with lasers
The V Word (not varroa…vaccinations)
Strategic forage additions to support hive health
Biodynamic beekeeping
The summer conference will take place at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock, North Carolina from July 10 to 12. My presentation is scheduled for the afternoon on Saturday, July 12. Registration opened this week.
I'd love to be there but it's rather a long way from Scotland!
